Riversharks to Add 360 VRs to Web Site

Frontier !nteractive Grand Slams Panorama VRs.

September 10, 2002 (Medford, NJ) --  The Camden Riversharks baseball team has selected Medford- based Frontier Interactive for photography and programming of a series of 360-degree images which enable web site visitors to see multiple views of Campbell Field, announced Timothy Kearns, Frontier Interactive president.

When installed in the Rivershark's web site, a site visitor can use a computer mouse to control the 360-degree view of locations within the stadium including: seating near first and third bases, homeplate, within an Executive Suite, and within the Diamond Café.

"The VR's capture the fun and excitement of baseball at Campbell Field," said Kearns.  "These are among the most progressive VR's attempted.  Technically speaking, each location within the stadium had multiple complexities – thousands of moving spectators, angle of the sun in late summer – all of which needed to be addressed in planning the shoots or in post-production."

The Philadelphia Phillies web site contains a series of VR's photographed while Veteran's Stadium was empty.  "This is the first time on the web that VR's of a game where done while the game was in progress."  Photo shoots were conducted September 7 and 8 during a series with the Somerset Patriots.  "It's not something you shoot during the seventh inning stretch," said Kearns.

The images, called VRs, are initially programmed in the Virtual Reality Modeling Language (VRML) and are viewed in a web browser using Apple Quicktime or a Java-based applet. The image files are also being used for an interactive CD-ROM.

Frontier Interactive, based in Medford, NJ, with an office in Barcelona, Spain, is an internet marketing firm specializing in creating audio-visual content and multi-language editorial content for the web and CD-ROM.
